Introduction

I want to make it absolutely clear that the following is intended to help solve the mystery of the Conestoga-class Light Assault Carrier U.S.S. Tonoro.

By now I’m sure you’ve heard that the Tonoro was discovered by Lieutenant Charles Drake on the planet of Arcturus on January 16, 2357. The ship itself is broken into three sections; the tail section lies approximately 2 kilometers west of the center section and the front section lies approximately 1 kilometer northeast of the center section. A thorough examination of her hull indicates that the vessel broke apart as it entered the planet’s atmosphere. The wreck is partially buried in the earth as a result of constant volcanic activity on the planet.

A search of the vessel was conducted in the hopes of finding the remains of her crew. Interestingly, no traces of life were found aboard. Her crew simply vanished, or perhaps they jumped ship? The fact that one of the Tonoro’s Emergency Escape Vehicles (EEV) is unaccounted for suggests that this might have been the case. Two days into the investigation, the search party found classified documents aboard the ship. The documents belong to the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. Not much information was provided to us as to what the files contained, but my guess is that it was extremely valuable information. We were ordered to divert to Arcturus to take the files back to home base, Earth, for further analysis. I didn’t want to jump to conclusions, but I had a hunch as to what the files concerned.

We’ve all heard the conspiracy surrounding Weyland-Yutani after information leaked out concerning the loss of Hadley’s Hope, the colony on LV-426, and the disappearance of the U.S.S. Sulaco, roughly 180 years ago. At the time it was a mystery, but then rumors spread that Weyland-Yutani had attempted to conduct illegal experiments to breed an alien life form for their bio-weapons division, and the events on LV-426 were related. Not long after these events, Weyland-Yutani began experiencing financial problems. Eventually, the company collapsed and was bought out by Wal-Mart not that long ago.

I must confess at this point that curiosity got the best of me. I’ve gone through the classified documents that were found on Arcturus and this text is what I’ve made of them. You must understand that what happened aboard the U.S.S. Tonoro ten years after the Sulaco vanished was not a freak accident. The information contained in these files suggests the disappearance of the Tonoro was the result of a top secret operation organized by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. It also suggests that the four incidents – the Tonoro, the Sulaco, Hadley’s Hope, and the U.S.C.S.S. Nostromo – are all related. Most of the information regarding the Nostromo, the Sulaco, and the events on LV-426 I have taken from these documents. Unfortunately, not much documentation exists as to what happened aboard the Tonoro. That information I have found in a personal diary belonging to U.S.C.M. private Alicia Hendrick. The diary was found along with other items in the wreck of the Tonoro. The search party on Arcturus also managed to find fragmented video files in the Tonoro’s computer. I have used the diary, the videos, and other data salvaged from the ship’s computer to recreate what happened aboard that ship when she vanished.

I am all too aware that the contents of this text will sound ludicrous and out of pure fiction, but I can assure you that I am not making anything up. Everything you will read is based on the evidence collected from the wreck of the U.S.S. Tonoro. I can understand if it is difficult for you to comprehend what the evidence suggests. Believe me, I found it hard to comprehend as well.

This introduction seems very much in the spirit of the Alien movies as I recall them, to say nothing of their antecedents in written and filmed horror (Lovecraft, etc.).
